The trip in detail

Today you will arrive in La Paz, it definetely feels like the top of the world - 3 625 masl - Catch your breath before you go out for a walk. Although Sucre is the official capital of Bolivia, La Paz, was established in 1548 as the centre of industry – the country’s brain. Marvel at the vistas of buildings clinging to the canyon sides, and explore its lively streets.
We’ll meet you at 6pm for a nice Bolivian dinner and talk about the next days.

Beneath the majestic Illimani mountain, La Paz is a chaotic carnival of color and noise, where indigenous, colonial and modern worlds meet and new adventures lurk around every street corner.

This morning you will explore the local landmarks of its historic center, taking in the bustling squares, palaces and cathedrals, not to mention the mysterious Witches’ Market. Later, visit the lunar landscape of the nearby Moon Valley.

After we will explore the heights of La Paz thanks to the famous Teleférico, a cable system that connects the whole city by air.

Day 3 The Sun island

Today is an early start, we will drive to Copacabana, is the most important religious sanctuary of Bolivia, thousands of pilgrims visit every year the virgin of Copacabana also known as Native Madonna, you will visit the main square and the impressive Cathedral.


Then you will board a catamaran cruise and head to the Sun Island ( Isla del Sol), this island has been identified as the birthplace of several revered entities, including the sun itself. A source of magnetic energy, the vertex of the earth and the cradle of the Inca Empire, the Inca couple Manco Kapac and Mama Ocllo appeared here and founded the Sun Empire.

Day 3 Biking to the Dead Road

Today will be an early start, we will drive close to the nearby peaks, such as Huayna Potosi and other nearby mountains in the Cordillera Central, from here we will descend on a road surrounded by low clouds, through the amazing views, from high cliffs until outcrops of rocks and lush green vegetation. After a half day biking, we will reach to the warm town of Coroico, where we will relax, get some lunch and enjoy the swimming pool before heading back to La Paz.

This morning we will take a flight from La Paz to Sucre, capital of Bolivia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991, full of history, culture, and preserved colonial buildings . Upon arrival we will go on a relax walking tour through its interesting squares, local market, and finally, we will visit the Recoleta area, to get a panoramic view of the city.

This morning we will drive to the Cal Orck'o Cretaceous Park, we'll travel to Bolivia's prehistoric past by following the footprints of the dinosaurs that inhabited Sucre more than 65 million years ago! Did you know that it's the largest site in the world with dinosaur footprints? Cal Orck'o also has footprints of both biped and quadruped dinosaurs, evidence that helped shed light on the existence of the different dinosaur species that coexisted in this region.

We say goodbye to Sucre and take our transportartion along the scenic route to Potosi town, once the predominant supplier of silver to colonial-era Spain, Potosi briefly celebrated life as one of the richest cities in the world .

In the afternoon you will be lead in a relaxed walking tour around Potosi– it’s important to take it easy, as you need to adjust to Potosi’s 4,090 m (13,420 ft). altitude, considered one of the highest cities in the world !

Today we will take a bit of Potosi, we will visit a mine a local mine, this tour involves visiting the miner’s market, a minerals distillery as well, this experience offers a great understanding of the socio, cultural, and economic importance of the mine to Potosi and the region while avoiding the risks associated with entering deeper sections of the mine.

In the afternoon we will drive to Uyuni , once we get there, it will feel like you've reached to the end of the road. Uyuni, founded in 1890 as a trading post, it prospered, as a railroad junction and mining and market centre. The town lost its importance when mineral prices dropped, but it regained growth through tourism.

This morning we will visit the train cemetery where we can see the remains of 19th and 20th century steam locomotives. After, we will stop by Colchani town, for a quick look out of the salt process. We will continue driving deeper in the Salt lake until we will continue to Incahuasi Island (known as Fish Island) . This "Island" has a unique and isolated ecosystem that is populated by giant cactus.

On rainy season (From December to April) the salt flat might be flooded and the visits to Incahuasi Island, cannot be done, instead we’ll only get about 10km into the salt flat to watch it looking as a giant mirror and the amazing beauty of the zone, giving a great opportunity to take singular photographs.

This morning we will continue driving through incredible landscapes, Chiguana Salt Lake, the still-active Ollague Volcano, and other small lakes of different colours and if we are lucky we will get to see some flamingos standing nearby. We will get to see rock formations, and some pretty epic views. We will make a stop to observe Andean wildlife in the Laguna Colorada (Red Lake), keeping an eye out for llamas, flamingos, vicunas, and foxes along the way.

On Winter (From May to August) it’s possible to have snowfalls in the zone and the visits to the Green and Red lake also the Geysers, Hot springs nor Dalí Desert can’t be done, instead we’ll modify your itinerary in order to give you options according the possibilities.

Accommodation: Basic Accommodation nearby Laguna Colorada (Red Lake)

We will leave behind our accommodation to try to catch the sunrise over the surrounding geysers. There may be an opportunity to stop at a local hot spring for a quick dip (optional), then to Laguna Verde , afterward, pass through more barren desert landscapes, some of which are frequently compared to Salvador Dali’s paintings. Onwards to, Valle de Rocas (Rock Valley), and the San Cristobal mining town to finally arrive in Uyuni town.

This morning we will take you to Uyuni’s airport, to catch your flight back to La Paz, upon arrival you will connect with your international flight back home.
